We are seeking a dynamic supervisor to oversee the day-to-day organization, planning, and scheduling of the UEL's Public Works program and staff. The UEL is a well-established and attractive unincorporated community located between the City of Vancouver and the University of British Columbia. As a small administration, roles at the UEL offer a high degree of variety and cross-functional working and the opportunity to be part of a close-knit team. Within this context, this position offers the opportunity to build leadership and management experience.

As the Supervisor of Public Works, you are responsible for daily work plans that include a range of municipal services including the construction, installation, service, maintenance and repair of streets, curbs, sidewalks and cycle paths, signs; the water distribution system, including, water mains, fire hydrants, valves, meters, and services; storm and sanitary sewage systems and snow removal and for solid waste collection. You work closely with the Public Works Superintendent/Deputy Manager in long-term planning, coordinating and scheduling of public works projects and annual and long-term plans.

You must have a strong service orientation, a good working knowledge of municipal infrastructure and the ability to work collaboratively in a small team, responding to day-to-day pressures and priorities. You also have the ability to plan and deliver infrastructure maintenance programs and to work with engineers and contractors.
