North Vancouver School District No. 44
An influential and challenging role for a seasoned finance professional
Our vision is to provide world-class instruction and a rich diversity of engaging programs to inspire success for every student and bring communities together to learn, share and grow. With the wide variety of programs we offer in 38 schools, every one of our almost 17,000 students is provided with multiple pathways to experience success.
As the Board of Education's Chief Financial Officer, a member of the Executive Committee and a trusted advisor to the Superintendent, you will be responsible for administering and managing the School District's Corporate Services Division. Accountability, integrity, responsiveness, the ability to support the Board of Education, and work effectively with our partner groups are key attributes.
Your vision and guidance will be key as you oversee the business activities of the School District to meet our educational goals through financial acumen and strategic thinking. You'll also be called on to navigate the provincial budget system and coordinate the collection and preparation of information from a number of departments for budgeting and reporting.
From financial forecasts and recommendations to our short and long-term facility and construction needs, the full spectrum of non-educational functions will be under your purview. You are flexible, adaptable and known for astutely identifying areas for improvement and seeking and implementing best practices that will help us achieve the school district's strategic goals.
A professional accountant (CA, CGA or CMA) or experienced business executive (MBA) with a proven track record of 10 years' post-designation experience in accounting and finance, you have a strong leadership background managing teams comprised of diverse roles. In addition, you have top-notch financial planning and management skills, along with the communication, analytical, problem-solving and leadership abilities to ensure the School District’s success. Proven success in asset development and experience in risk management are also desired qualifications.
With an effective communication style, you have a collaborative, positive team approach that enables you to work respectfully with a wide range of stakeholders, including colleagues, elected trustees, our parent community, government and employee groups.
North Vancouver School District values trust, responsibility, respect and collaboration. It is “the natural place to learn” for students, and “the natural place to work” for our staff.
