Revelstoke School District No. 19
Principal, Revelstoke Secondary School
Lead a high-achieving school in one of the most exciting principalships in the province
In the Revelstoke School District, we provide all learners with the tools they need to develop their knowledge and skills according to their individual potential. As our students develop positive attitudes to lifelong learning, we help to engender values that will prepare them to contribute to a healthy, sustainable and democratic society.
Revelstoke Secondary School boasts one of the highest graduation rates in the province, and your leadership will be key to sustaining these enviable results. The school culture is reflected in the positive relationships that exist between the staff, students, and community. Our school is a stunning, brand new building that serves 425 students in grades 8-12. It is home to the province’s first Neighborhood Learning Center, housing a theatre and youth support spaces.
You are a natural relationship builder, when you are interacting regularly with students or connecting with administrators, teachers, support staff, parents or community partners. Your leadership style is open and transparent, and you are committed to solving problems promptly, professionally and collaboratively.
Innovative and future-focussed, you recognize the significant changes coming to secondary school education in both the short- and long-term, and you are ready to take on the challenges that lie ahead.
Through a track record of successful school administration experience, ideally at the secondary level, you have developed a positive and motivating style with a collegial, strength-based approach to decision-making that is grounded in consensus-building. Above all, you are a champion for the efforts of your students and staff.
Your educational credentials include a valid BC Teaching Certificate, supported by a graduate degree in education, or significant progress toward one.
A vibrant, historic mountain community of 7200, Revelstoke is a hive for artistic, cultural and outdoor pursuits. In Revelstoke, you’ll have year-round recreation with two national parks as well as numerous lakes and rivers right in your backyard—not to mention some of the best downhill skiing in North America and first-rate hiking, cross-country skiing, backcountry skiing and snowmobiling terrain.
