The International Institute for Qualitative Methodology at the University of Alberta is seeking applications from individuals interested in serving as Editor for a 3 year term (renewable) of the International Journal of Qualitative Methods (IJQM). Currently in its 9th year of publication, IJQM is a multidisciplinary, quarterly, online peer-reviewed journal. The IJQM's focus is to publish scholarly material developing innovation in, and disseminating knowledge of, qualitative methods to scholars, students, and professionals, worldwide, who engage in qualitative research. The IJQM has, since its inception, been available on the internet as a free journal. It uses the University of Alberta's Open Access publishing system, which allows for online submissions and management of the review process. IJQM is indexed in several multidisciplinary databases. For more information, visit the IJQM's website at http://ejournals.library.ualberta.ca/index.php/IJQM/index.

The Editor, working alongside the IIQM Director, sets the vision for the IJQM. The Editor oversees the promotion and scholarly development of the journal internationally and nationally; as 'Editor-in-chief' of a team of international editors, the Editor will ensure that reviews are undertaken appropriately, in a timely manner, and using relevant experts.

Submissions will be considered from applicants from any discipline relevant to qualitative research. Applicants must demonstrate experience and interest in qualitative research methods and be committed to qualitative methods innovation and development. Applicants must also be familiar with the scholarly publishing process (e.g., acting as a reviewer and/or serving on editorial boards). Familiarity with online publishing/reviewing systems is an asset.

Interested applicants are encouraged to submit their applications by email to Amanda Shuya, Director of the International Institute for Qualitative Methodology (amanda.shuya@ualberta.ca). Application package should include:

  • Current Curriculum Vitae;
  • A cover letter expressing your interest and qualifications;
  • Names and contact information for three references
