World sports leaders, Hockey Canada is the governing body for hockey in Canada and a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), with a membership through its 13 provincial branch associations of over700,000 players, coaches and officials. Hockey Canada is a not-for-profit organization that creates leading-edge hockey development programs for its members to deliver in communities across Canada, provides consistent rules and regulations and various other membership services fromcoast to coast, manages numerous regional, national and international hockey championships and events, and leads the operation of all teams that represent Canada in international hockey competition. Primary Responsibilities

  • Accounts Payable Processing and Administration
  • Credit Card Reconciliation
  • Special Projects and Analysis as Assigned
  • Account Reconciliation

Accounts Payable

  • A/P quality control and data input

- Verify coding and amount of expenditures

  • Vendor inquiries

- Verify payments and problem areas with vendor

  • Verifying staff/volunteer expense/honorarium claim backup

-Follow up for receipts and coding

  • Weekly Cheque Runs
  • Update A/P Vendor Contact Information
  • Maintain Staff Advance/Visa Advance Accounts

- Ensure timely submission of expenditure coding with receipts- Ensure timely repayment of personal expenditures


  • Complete Visa/Amex Statement

- Coding and maintenance- Verify proper receipts and expenditures- Follow up with staff on no receipt charges

  • Suspense Billback Account in Coordination with Accounts Receivable Coordinator
  • Telus Conference Calls
  • Invoices for Ice-time from City of Calgary
  • GL Account Reconciliations as assigned

Other duties

  • Assistance on preparation of Year End Audit Working Papers
  • Process Honoraria payroll as required
  • Special Projects as assigned
  • Coordinate billings out of inventory system.

Essential Skills:

  • Accounting technician diploma or degree combined with appropriate accounting experience
  • Accpac, MS Office Suite; high level of computer literacy
  • Able to establish priorities, meet deadlines, multi-task and work under pressure
  • Well organized
  • Excellent telephone demeanor
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problem independently
  • Bilingualism (French and English) will be considered an asset
