RRU receives partial funding from the B.C. government for electric vehicle charging stations

Royal Roads is one of 71 organizations across the province to receive partial funding from the B.C. government through the Community Charging Infrastructure Fund to set up electric vehicle charging stations.

The university will be installing two charging stations – one near the Mews Conference Centre and the other behind the Nixon building. The stations are expected to be up and running by Christmas and will be open to the public. There will be no charge for plugging in, but visitors will have to purchase a parking ticket. Royal Roads will receive funding from the provincial government for up to 75 per cent of eligible costs, to a maximum of $4,000 per station. The university will also receive some funding for the stations from the City of Colwood through the Solar Colwood program. Royal Roads is a partner in Solar Colwood and has many student and faculty researchers studying the program.
