Royal Roads presenters at Island Studies Conference

At least three people associated with Royal Roads University have been involved with an international Island Studies conference hosted by The Haven on Gabriola Island. The conference was titled Island Studies: West Coast Canada and Beyond

Phillip Vannini, Canada Research Chair in Innovative Learning and Public Ethnography, offered a plenary session titled: "How Do you Make an Island."  In the Island Cultures and Communities stream, "I feel like I’m separate from everyone else" was the title of  a session offered by Matthew Heinz. In the Theorizing Islands stream, Alice MacGillivray's presentation was titled "The nature of islands in knowledge ecologies".  Alice was also on the conference organizing committee.

The conference had more than 80 presenters from many locations including British Columbia, Prince Edward Island, the U.S., Australia and Scotland.
