Royal Roads is pleased to announce the creation of a new School of Education and Technology (SET) at RRU, as approved by the Board of Governors on Friday, Feb. 1. The school will be located within the Faculty of Social and Applied Sciences effective April 1, 2013.
The new school will generate a unique opportunity to leverage our expertise in instructional design and innovation as well as educational leadership and administration programs. It will provide a purposeful home for the potential Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Learning and Technology and current programing within the Division of Education Studies in the School of Communication and Culture including:
- MA Educational Leadership and Management (Domestic)
- MA Educational Leadership and Management (China)
- MA Learning and Technology
- Graduate Diploma in Learning and Technology
- Graduate Certificate in Instructional Design
In addition to increasing efficiencies and effectiveness within our current structures, SET is looking to develop a number of new program proposals, explore potential educational programming partnerships, and increase collaboration between CTET and SET faculty, in support of RRU’s academic initiatives and key strategic priorities.
We look forward to appointing a new school director in the coming weeks, in accordance with the standard process of director selection. School staff and faculty within SET will continue to work from the Commandant's House until long-term space needs are defined. More information will be available at the official school launch (date to be confirmed).
I would like to thank Dr. matthew heinz (FSAS Dean), Dr. Jennifer Walinga (SCC Director), Division of Education Studies faculty and staff, and Angie Wilson (Business Planning and Performance) for their work in developing this proposal.
