The United Nations has declared today, March 22, as World Water Day. To celebrate water and all it gives to us, The Council of Canadians encourages all of us to take action for water in our community. There are few things more important than clean, safe water, and you can make a difference.
Here are some things you can do for water on March 22:
- Join the Council of Canadians photo campaign to send a message to the Harper government that we will protect our water sources.
- Help to make our community a Blue Community, seeking to recognize water as a human right, supporting public water and banning bottled water.
- Encourage our local government to pass a fracking resolution and help stop this extraction technique that uses and pollutes millions of litres of water.
Thank you, Water. What in the world would we do without you?
