To facilitate an electrical upgrade, on the evening of Wednesday, Sept. 19, the university power supply will be shut down for up to five hours starting at 4 p.m.
During this time you can expect:
- Electricity in all buildings on campus to be turned off
- Traffic control on campus will be provided by RRU Security
- The library, RRU Recreation Centre and Habitat to be closed
- Emergency access and transit service to be maintained
At 4 p.m., access to internal network drives, Outlook and the Internet will be shut down in preparation for the planned power outage. Files saved on your C: drive will be accessible – but remember to shut down and unplug before 5 p.m.
There will be no disruption of service on Moodle or to RRU webmail (https://webmail.royalroads.ca*) for external faculty, staff and students. Due to the limited capacity of Sentinel, we request that remote access be limited to essential work needs only.
Appropriate arrangements are being put in place for students who are scheduled to be on campus that evening.
In the unlikely event of a delay in re-energizing power to the campus in the morning, the university will follow the standard campus closure protocol until the power is restored.
Thank you for your co-operation.
