Public - accessible to all site users

We are pleased to confirm that the Ministry of Advanced Education has restored the previously withdrawn funding for Royal Roads University’s (RRU) Aboriginal Gathering Place, subject to our ability to complete the renovations in this fiscal year.

We would therefore like to invite you to visit RRU on January 16, 2012 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. to attend a blessing of the Gathering Place site prior to renovations which will begin in late January, 2012. We will meet at the waterfront site just prior to 1:00. Light refreshments will follow the blessing in the lounge at Hatley Castle.

Please RSVP by return email or by phone at (250) 391-2600, ext. 4426#.

The actual opening ceremonies for RRU’s Aboriginal Gathering Place will take place in late April/early May and another notice will be sent to you well in advance of the date.

Hello I will be in Victoria during that time, however I will be totally new to the school grounds.  I am a first nations student taking the masters of leadership program and would love to attend this ceremony, however I am unsure of where that place is located.  I am requesting a map of the grounds.  Could you help me.  Cheryl

Here is link to RRU campus map,

You can click on Buildings tab, then scroll down until you see two buildings near the water. One building is called Boat House, but the one you are interested in is Aboriginal Learning and Cultural Centre (building on the bottom right corner). It appears Parking Lot 11 is the closest to Aboriginal Learning and Cultural Centre.

Completion of this building is eagerly anticipated by many! Thank you for your interest.
