School of Business associate faculty member Hugh Stephens published an opinion-editorial on the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada’s website Nov. 23. Stephens sees positive outcomes from recently negotiated changes to the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and its intellectual property provisions by looking at the policy within a “global context”.
“There is a lot of exaggeration about the supposed downsides of the TPP, including its provisions,” says Stephens. “To call it the ‘worst public policy decision in our history’ [as former co-CEO of Blackberry Jim Balsillie stated] is, to say the least, hyperbole, but going a step further – it is inaccurate.”
