A new leadership award has been announced by the Consortium of Camosun College, Royal Roads University and the University of Victoria.
The award will be presented each year to recognize an individual who is currently enrolled in a public sector or non-profit leadership program and who has strengthened leadership development either through their academic achievement, contribution to the larger community or promotion of leadership in the workplace," adds Dr. Lindquist.
Students enrolled in post-secondary leadership programs, like the Graduate Certificate in Leadership and Management program at Royal Roads, the Leadership Development Certificate program at Camosun College, and theMaster in Public Administration program at UVic, are eligible to apply. Applications should be supported by a letter from at least one referee who can speak to the applicant's accomplishments.
Applicants will be judged on leadership contributions in one of three areas: an initiative that improves support for students with disabilities; the design and execution of a plan that directly connects the learning institution to the community on pressing issues, such as climate change; or, the development of a program that succeeds in reducing conflict in the workplace.
Application forms are available now online (PDF) and due to the Consortium Awards Committee through the Camosun College Foundation by December 1, 2011. The successful recipient will be announced in January 2012.
The award is estimated at a value of approx. $750.
