Export Development Canada (EDC) launched its 14th annual International Business Scholarship competition, created and designed to develop the next generation of globally-minded business leaders.
Beginning in 2011-2012, the competition will now be opened up to college students in accredited bachelor programs and, in addition, the selection process will now also consider and reward students who have undertaken professional work abroad.
EDC's scholarship program offers up to 30 scholarships annually, 25 of these for outstanding undergraduate students in international business and five for those in programs that combine business with environmental or sustainability studies.
This year scholarship recipients will receive a $4,000 award, an increase over the $3,000 value in previous years.
The application deadline is January 30, 2012. Competition results will be announced in spring 2012.
Since 2000, a total of 304 scholarships have been awarded to Canadian students. Factoring in the 14th annual scholarship winners in 2011-2012, EDC's scholarship program will have invested over $1 million in international business and trade education. The winners of the 2010-2011 EDC scholarships can be found at: http://www.edc.ca/english/student_21112.htm
These scholarships are a key component of EDC's community investment strategy, which includes international business and trade education targeting Canadian youth.
