Sharing the story: Library renovations update

On Tuesday, March 1st between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. access to the library will be limited to the computer lab and service desk on the main level only.

Bookstore sales and regular service supports will be continue to be available, but there will be no access to the print collection and all areas beyond the main service desk during this brief time. The west side of the library building will be an active construction zone during this time and access will be strictly limited to construction staff.  Online services will not be affected.  Regular access to the print collection, study carrels, silent study, and the lower meeting/break-out rooms will be available again at 1 p.m.

As noted in the last project update, the principal entrance to the library has been moved temporarily to the east end of the building (the side closest to the castle). The main entrance continues undergo renovation work to expand and enhance the entry way. Signage has been posted to direct library users to the alternate route into the building.

Student accessibility services as well as financial aid and awards continue to operate from the library while the remainder of the student services team has been temporarily re-located to offices in the Grant building and the LIC (first floor). The library website provides more information about the modified hours of operation during the renovation, including alternate study space and selected services available in the LIC Monday to Thursday evenings, from 7pm to 9pm.

While RRU expects to maintain all services throughout the project, please note that parts of the library building will be an active construction zone. Access to some spaces and hours of operation will continue to be affected as work progresses.

Parking lot #6, adjacent to the library (west side) continues to be closed temporarilyThe footpath connecting Hatley Castle and the library offers barrier-free access and an alternate shipping and receiving routes.  Library users and staff are encouraged to use general parking available in P3 (south of the castle) or P7 (Mews).

Safety first! Please watch for construction personnel and vehicles or equipment working in and around the campus core. As needed, signage will be posted to guide visitors and members of the RRU community around localized work sites.
