1. Is accommodation provided during residency?
Dorm-style accommodation is available for students during residency. For more information, including rates, how rooms are assigned, room layouts, and more, please visit http://www.royalroads.ca/about-rru/learning-at-rru/learner-services/residences-accomodations/
RRU University Housing no longer has the capacity to offer full-time undergraduate housing. You can find off-campus housing listings at www.royalroads.och101.com. To further assist students, the university now offers a roommate matching registry.
2. When will I receive my textbook lists?
Approximately one month before each course start date, students will receive an email from the bookstore listing their required textbook and materials list. The bookstore does not have lists for the entire program as books are ordered on a course by course basis. Please note that there is sometimes a delay, as to when you receive this list. Check your junk mail to ensure it wasn't placed in the wrong mailbox.
3. Where are the closest amenities to campus?
The RRU campus is situated within walking distance from various amenities, including grocery stores, coffee shops, postal outlets, medical clinics, etc. Here are a list of local services in the Colwood area.
4. Will I have access to Internet across campus?
Students have access to the Internet from any of the computer labs on campus or by connecting to the wall plug in residence rooms or by using our wireless network elsewhere on campus.
In Residence: Wireless is not available, so it is best to use the wall outlet provided. You will need a network card installed in your personal computer and a network cable. See the instructions on how to connect to the network in residence.
5. What is Moodle?
Moodle is RRU's online learning platform. We suggest students to complete the online learning orientation program available on Moodle to help them become more comfortable with some of the common activities and tools that are available to them. You must be signed into Moodle to access the full tutorial.
Learn how to gain access at: http://computerservices.royalroads.ca/online_learning_access
6. Who do I contact regarding technical questions or issues?
Explore the RRU Computer Services page regarding all questions on email, printing, computer equipment and network, etc.
7. What should I do on my free time?
Get out and explore the beautiful island! Visit the RRU Social Events and Events in Victoria pages for suggestions on what to do.
Email orientationassistant@royalroads.ca if you have a suggestion for a student event that you would like to see happen while you're on campus.
8. Can I arrange a campus tour?
Yes, we offer campus tours for new and prospective students. There are also historical tours available with Campus Services, and trail orientation to the running and walking trails offered by the Recreation Centre.

11. Should I bring my car to campus?
This is completely a personal choice, but here are a few things you could consider:
- gas costs vs. U-Pass (for full-time undergraduate students)
- taking the bus downtown will take a bit longer vs. parking downtown is limited
- costs associated with parking on-campus are reasonable
- campus is in walking distance from the Westshore Town Centre (approximately 25 minutes)
- carpooling with fellow RRU students
- Galloping Goose Trail bike route
12. Where can I find more information regarding the undergraduate healthcare plan?
The Student Association Coordinated Healthcare Plan provides extended health and dental plans to all undergraduates students who are enrolled in a face-to-face program at RRU. For more information, please visit the Undergraduate Healthcare Plan page under Student Services.
